If you are using WPA3 your Nexus 7 will not connect to the network. My Nexus 7 still works but I'm not going to sacrifice security over nostalgia.

Split your Wi-Fi into two different bands—5GHz and 2.4GHz. Use 2.4GHz. Try Resurrection Remix ROM if your tablet is freezes.
