Amazon reveals new Kindle Scribe and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft

Amazon today announced two new models in the Kindle Scribe lineup, the next-generation Kindle Scribe and the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft.

The Kindle Scribe has a thin design at just 5.4mm with 400g weight. It has an 11-inch matte textured e-ink display. The display has custom miniaturized LEDs for fitting inside the thin bezel. A texture molded glass improves friction to provide the same texture as paper. A new display stack reduces parallax so the stylus feels like it's writing directly on the display with no gap. Finally, the device is powered by a new quad-core chip with more memory and the company's latest Oxide display technology.

Next is the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. It has a color display that features a color filter and nitrite LEDs to soften the colors and reduce harshness compared to LCDs. Amazon claims the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft provides weeks of battery life.

The new models feature improved software experiences, including an all-new Home screen, with a Quick Notes feature to quickly jot something down. You can also see your recently opened books, documents, and notebooks here. Users can also access all of their documents with Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive integration. A new AI-powered search can search through notes, and early next year you will be able to send your notes and documents to Alexa+ and have a conversation about them.

Other features include being able to export notes as converted text or as an embedded image to OneNote, color pens and highlights with a choice of 10 pen colors or 5 highlighter colors, a new shader tool for shading, and being able to organize your documents, notebooks, books, and more in the same folder.

The new Kindle Scribe is priced at $500 for the standard model and $430 for the model without the front light. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is priced at $630. All three will be available in the US later this year, and in the UK and Germany early next year.
